We happy to announce the second annual Riichi Open tournament in the greater Philadelphia area!

It will be held this year at the the Old Pine Community Center, located in historic Old City Philadelphia, and nearby to the Philly Mah-Jawn Clubhouse where Free Play will be held.

Tournament entry includes Free Play and 2025 Tanyao membership at the Philly Mah-Jawn Clubhouse! 
As the space at the Clubhouse is smaller, table space at Free Play will be available on a first-come first-served basis.

Tournament Dates:
November 8 - 9 (Saturday and Sunday)
(Free play will be available on Thursday, Friday and Monday as well!)

Entry Fee:
$70 (Any current Mangan Members will receive a clubhouse voucher for signing up!)

Food:
Water and Coffee will be provided at no extra cost. Food will not be provided at the venue, but there are a large number of food options within walking distance of the venue.

Registration

Registration will open on Sunday August 3rd, 2025, at 5PM Eastern time. Entry Fee will be paid as part of registration.

Tournament Info

Ruleset:
WRC 2025 ruleset (https://www.worldriichi.org/wrc-rules) with following modifiers:
- Red Fives
- 30/10 Uma
- Nagashi Mangan

Timers:
Games will be 75 minutes + 0 hands. When time is called, any tables not completed will finish their current hand. No additional hands will be played.

Format:
This tournament will be a fully cumulative 9 Hanchan format, with final placement decided by total score at the end of the 9th Hanchan.
